I would rate this as one of my current faves, along side "Breathe" by Blue Stone, which is a frequent play on my mp3 player. I had heard one OceanLab track on satellite radio, but hadn't given it much more thought. Works both for trancing out and on while huffing on the treadmill - versatile and enjoyable. Not sure why OceanLab didn't get more popular - but it should be. Now that I bought it, I have to say that it was a shame I hadn't picked it up earlier. The vocals on this album are quite beautiful, and it's mixed and produced very nicely.
what a joke. The lyrics on this album are so juvenile. If you're 15 and going through puberty then you'll really relate.
I personally think the songs flowed nicely together. I hope that OceanLab isn't just a one album side project by Above and Beyond. I am pretty new to the work of Above and Beyond as well as Justine Suissa. I'm not the huge chill out fan that I once was but I still enjoy it if done right. When I want to relax, songs like "Just Listen" and "Breaking Ties" are ideal to kick back and chill out. Justine has a very pleasant, soothing voice. The flow of the album is perfect for me.
I like that the dance beats are subtle and not obnoxious. Those songs are great to listen to while getting ready to go out clubbing.
SIRENS OF THE SEA is a nice mix of trance and chill out/downtempo music. I really like the tracks that are more uptempo like "Sirens of the Sea" and "If I Could Fly".
I recently bought OceanLab's SIRENS OF THE SEA on a whim. The songs may tend to sound the same but overall I find SIRENS OF THE SEA immensely enjoyable.
I really enjoyed SIRENS OF THE SEA and I hope to hear more from the group. The same with trance music.
Her vocals and the subtle dance grooves provided by the guys in Above and Beyond makes a great combination.
De 70 minuten zijn een genot voor het oor. Na de ballad I Am What I Am is er progressive house in Lonely Girl, andermaal chillout ballads Secret en On The Beach, waarna de Flow Mix van Breaking Ties afsluit. On a Good Day sprankelt ook met pianospel op een vocal trance patroon.Ashes pakt het percussieve chillout van Just Listen en de titeltrack weer op, waarbij opbouw en vocalen me verrassend aan Vector's Simple Experience deden denken.
Jonathan Grant, Tony McGuinness, Paavo Siljamäki (Above & Beyond) vormen daarbij de instrumentale onderbouwing voor de zang van Justine Suissa (die eerder met Chicane en Armin van Buuren optrad). If I Could Fly is geknipt voor de dansvloer (Sophie Ellis Bextor meets dBA ), waarna Breaking Ties als eb en vloed heen en weer kabbelt. De in 2000 opgerichte Britse vocal trance group OceanLab laat op dit volledige album een boeiende mix horen van chillout, ballads en up-tempo club dance en progressive house.
Come Home is een lekker vocal trance nummer, zoals ook de Zweedse Nevarakka maakt. Meer video's en mixen vind je op Last.fm. Op de op ogenschijnlijk eenvoudige loops gebaseerde opener Just Listen doet Justine aan Note for a Child doet denken.
Op de de dromerige titeltrack en Miracle heeft ze hetzelfde timbre als Dido.
I highly recommend this CD to unwind and just to hear some soothing vocals. The vocals are soothing and the melodies are catchy/relaxing after a long days work. Bought this CD on a whim and it has been a real treat. The songs are great to relax to especially "Sirens of the Sea" and "If I could Fly".
